Reminder- THIS Sunday, Nov. 8th is Orphan Sunday! See below...

Free Concert and Clothing for Foster and Adopted Children

We'd like to invite you and your family to an Event on Orphan Sunday, November 8th from 5-7. The event will include a concert with Steven Curtis Chapman, broadcast live via webcast into the Terrace Hall at Biltmore Baptist Church. Please Note: the time is 5:00, not 4:00 like the poster indicates below (We are in Eastern Time zone, while concert will be in Central). Presbyterian Home for Children- Black Mountain

Hi Alliance Friends-

This message is from Leighton Pauly at the Presbyterian Home for Children here in Black Mountain. These classes are free, so please pass this along to anyone who may be interested in fostering or fostering-to-adopt classes taught in a Christian environment.

Thanks! Lorie

Presbyterian Home for Children in Black Mountain is preparing to hold a 10-week training session for anyone who may be interested in becoming a foster parent. If you have ever thought about becoming a foster parent, this would be an opportunity to explore exactly what it would look like and decide with a trainer if it would be right for you and your family.

Training sessions will begin the 2nd week of January. They will last 10 weeks ending in March, depending on inclement weather. If you are interested and have questions please feel free to contact Leighton Pauly, coordinator of Foster Care at 828. 686.3451 x15 or leighton_phfc@bellsouth.net

Shoe Drive

Hi Alliance Friends-

The following message is from Maria at First Baptist Hendersonville:

The Women's Ministry & Hands of Hope Orphan Ministry @ FBC are partnering to sponsor the shoe drive. It will run from October 1st thru November 1st. People can donate new shoes and/or socks. The need is for athletic shoes, but any type will be gladly accepted. The donations can be dropped off at FBC or people can contact me and I will arrange to collect them. At FBC, there will be red wagons at each entrance for dropping off donated items. Here is the Buckner website so you can get more information about where the shoes go. www.ShoesforOrphanSouls.org

Hi Alliance Friends-

If your church is interested in having the WNC Heart Gallery at your church, (I KNOW most of you are!) please contact Erica at erica.jourdan@buncombecounty.org
Erica works at DSS and needs churches to book the Heart Gallery. What a GREAT way to get these precious children adopted/exposed into Christian families! Let's all try to book this Gallery solid with churches from all over WNC! Praise God! What an easy opportunity to help these kids!
Also, Erica is in need of school supplies for the foster kids of Buncombe County. If your church would like to help by having a drive, email Erica. Let me know of any events at your church, and I'll get them right up on the blog for you. newmanlorie@yahoo.com
Blessings,
Lorie

Hi Alliance Friends!

Reminder for our meeting THIS Saturday--

We will meet at Merrimon Ave. Baptist Church on Sat. June 13th at 9AM.

Bring a breakfast "munchie" to share with the group. If you have some extra milk or juice in the fridge, bring that too.

Also, remember that the church will be having a men's breakfast that morning...but that should have little impact on us. There will be signs directing people from the Alliance to the room where the meeting will take place.

Everyone should enter the building from the double glass doors in the back. If anyone needs directions, the church's address is:
Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church
283 Merrimon Avenue
Asheville, NC 28801

See you there! Forward this on to anyone interested in joining us!
