We'd like to invite you and your family to an Event on Orphan Sunday, November 8th from 5-7. The event will include a concert with Steven Curtis Chapman, broadcast live via webcast into the Terrace Hall at Biltmore Baptist Church. Please Note: the time is 5:00, not 4:00 like the poster indicates below (We are in Eastern Time zone, while concert will be in Central). Presbyterian Home for Children- Black Mountain

Hi Alliance Friends-

This message is from Leighton Pauly at the Presbyterian Home for Children here in Black Mountain. These classes are free, so please pass this along to anyone who may be interested in fostering or fostering-to-adopt classes taught in a Christian environment.

Thanks! Lorie

Presbyterian Home for Children in Black Mountain is preparing to hold a 10-week training session for anyone who may be interested in becoming a foster parent. If you have ever thought about becoming a foster parent, this would be an opportunity to explore exactly what it would look like and decide with a trainer if it would be right for you and your family.

Training sessions will begin the 2nd week of January. They will last 10 weeks ending in March, depending on inclement weather. If you are interested and have questions please feel free to contact Leighton Pauly, coordinator of Foster Care at 828. 686.3451 x15 or leighton_phfc@bellsouth.net

Shoe Drive

Hi Alliance Friends-

The following message is from Maria at First Baptist Hendersonville:

The Women's Ministry & Hands of Hope Orphan Ministry @ FBC are partnering to sponsor the shoe drive. It will run from October 1st thru November 1st. People can donate new shoes and/or socks. The need is for athletic shoes, but any type will be gladly accepted. The donations can be dropped off at FBC or people can contact me and I will arrange to collect them. At FBC, there will be red wagons at each entrance for dropping off donated items. Here is the Buckner website so you can get more information about where the shoes go. www.ShoesforOrphanSouls.org

Hi Alliance Friends-

If your church is interested in having the WNC Heart Gallery at your church, (I KNOW most of you are!) please contact Erica at erica.jourdan@buncombecounty.org
Erica works at DSS and needs churches to book the Heart Gallery. What a GREAT way to get these precious children adopted/exposed into Christian families! Let's all try to book this Gallery solid with churches from all over WNC! Praise God! What an easy opportunity to help these kids!
Also, Erica is in need of school supplies for the foster kids of Buncombe County. If your church would like to help by having a drive, email Erica. Let me know of any events at your church, and I'll get them right up on the blog for you. newmanlorie@yahoo.com
Blessings,
Lorie

Hi Alliance Friends!

Reminder for our meeting THIS Saturday--

We will meet at Merrimon Ave. Baptist Church on Sat. June 13th at 9AM.

Bring a breakfast "munchie" to share with the group. If you have some extra milk or juice in the fridge, bring that too.

Also, remember that the church will be having a men's breakfast that morning...but that should have little impact on us. There will be signs directing people from the Alliance to the room where the meeting will take place.

Everyone should enter the building from the double glass doors in the back. If anyone needs directions, the church's address is:
Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church
283 Merrimon Avenue
Asheville, NC 28801

See you there! Forward this on to anyone interested in joining us!

Alliance Statement of Faith

Hi Alliance Friends-

Below is a very basic Statement of Faith. It is one that I have used in another ministry. It is "cross-denominational" and I think you'll find these truths to be basic to all Christians. I especially LOVE #6! That's a picture of this Alliance!

Thanks!
Lorie

~ One God in three Persons—Father, Son and Holy Spirit

~ Jesus Christ’s deity, virgin birth, sinless humanity, substitutionary death, atoning blood, bodily resurrection and ascension to Heaven.

~ The entire Bible is God’s infallible revelation to man

~ Salvation by faith alone, through grace alone, in Jesus Christ alone

~ The resurrection of the body: eternal glory for believers in Heaven, and everlasting punishment for unbelievers in Hell

~ The one true church, the body of Christ, consisting of all believers

~ Obedience to our Lord’s command to lead people of all nations to faith in Christ and to growth in Christ-likeness

~ Christ’s personal return to establish His Kingdom on earth

~ The Holy Spirit indwells and empowers believers and is given as a seal and a pledge of our inheritance in Jesus Christ

Just so you know, the church will be having a men's breakfast that morning...but that should have little impact on us. There will be signs directing people from the Alliance to the room where the meeting will take place.

Welcome to the WNC Alliance Blog!

Hi Alliance Friends! It was so good to meet all of you today. Isn't it wonderful that God has given us all a heart for the forgotten and brought us together for this purpose? Praise to the Father to the Fatherless! He alone is worthy of our praise!

Let's all begin to pray for what is ahead for this group. I consider it a great privilege to lock arms with you and march on the battlefield of the fatherless!

In the days ahead I will post a statement of faith for you all to review. I will bring a copy of it to the next meeting, Sat. June 13, for each of us to sign.
Also, if you have something that you would like to be posted here on the blog for the entire Alliance to see and know about, please email it to me at newmanlorie@yahoo.com and I will copy and paste it on the blog for you.

With each posting, I will add a picture of an orphan or orphans from around the world, (many from my travels), just to make the posting more interesting.

Each of you needs to click on the this blog's sidebar where it says, "subscribe" and enter your email address. Follow the directions given to ensure you get an email update each time a post is made to this blog.

Marching Beside You on the Battlefield of the Forgotten,
Lorie Newman
PS- Sorry I couldn't get our "official title" in the heading of this blog exactly the way we discussed today-- it wouldn't fit unless I compressed it! :-)
