Opportunity to Help with Asheville Area Foster Event

Hi Alliance Friends!

Below is a message from Erica at DSS. Please consider how your orphan ministry can help with this area event. Thanks!

Volunteers Needed - Any Thoughts?
Greetings!

You were selected for this email because you are well connected and understand the need of kids in foster care (or those in kinship placements). Please let me know if you do not want to receive such emails in the future.

On Saturday, August 7th, from 10 – 2, a collaborative of foster care agencies will be putting on a “Everybody Can Help” event at the Asheville Mall.

We will be focusing on community education and recruiting foster parents – but Clear Channel will also be there doing a live on-site broadcast and the Foster Care Association will be taking donations of items for Back-To-School and pre-holiday giving. This is Tax-Free weekend!

So why am I writing to you? We need volunteers to stand at the mall entrances and hand out flyers as people come in.

It’s a simple, fun, generous way to help kids in care – please consider donating some of your time to this event. And please spread the word! Anyone interested can email or call me anytime: 775-2404 or erica.jourdan@buncombecounty.org

Many thanks for all that you do for/with children!

Warm wishes,

Erica

Dear Friends in Adoption and Orphan Care,

We have formed Carolina Christian Alliance for Orphans, a group of churches and other organizations to advance adoption and orphan care. On our website, we want to include churches that provide an adoption and/or orphan ministry. Can you please send me the contact information for your churches so that we can add it to our website.

You can also check-out our website at carolinachristianalliancefororphans.org (I know it is a long one!)

Any other ministries that you think should be added under resources, please let me know. I trust you are all enjoying the summer.

May Blessing Abound,

Laura

Presbyterian Home for Children- Black Mountain

Hi Alliance Friends-

This message is from Leighton Pauly at the Presbyterian Home for Children here in Black Mountain. These classes are free, so please pass this along to anyone who may be interested in fostering or fostering-to-adopt classes taught in a Christian environment.

Thanks! Lorie

Presbyterian Home for Children in Black Mountain is preparing to hold a 10-week training session for anyone who may be interested in becoming a foster parent. If you have ever thought about becoming a foster parent, this would be an opportunity to explore exactly what it would look like and decide with a trainer if it would be right for you and your family.

Training sessions will begin the 2nd week of January. They will last 10 weeks ending in March, depending on inclement weather. If you are interested and have questions please feel free to contact Leighton Pauly, coordinator of Foster Care at 828. 686.3451 x15 or leighton_phfc@bellsouth.net
